Our very first project using Cinema 4D consisted of us students bringing a 3D cube to life! The way we would go about this was to start off with a cube, morph it into an object, morph back into a cube, and repeat this one more time and end off with a cube. Builds were everything for this project and to keep it interesting was quite a feat. The pre-planning to this project was a little difficult at first as I ran into many creative blocks. I kept getting too many complex ideas and it was hard to keep things simple. I had to go over my idea with my instructor a couple times before I could get anything solid to work with. It was my first time using Cinema 4D so I was limited to what I thought I could achieve but, that doesn’t mean it was impossible.
I spent quite a bit of time with this project in rendering out my scene. This project alone was definitely over 20+ hours to do. I figured out that my materials for some of my objects took a bunch of time to render, and something to note was that I was rendering over 4 computers in our computer lab. You can only imagine the head ache I was going through. It was basically a high-risk high-reward ordeal and ended with me getting a perfect grade because of the sacrifices I had to make. This would have been the highlight to all of my work to end the first term of our video & motion graphics class. Thanks for reading (if you’ve made it this far) I really appreciate it. Take care.
